FAQ's

Q / Why choose medical piercings for your child?

A / The medical piercing route ensures your little one has a safe and hygienic experience, handled by a healthcare professional. The piercing equipment is sterile and single use - meaning all earrings are individually factory sealed until it comes time to pierce the ears. Your children’s ears will be assessed for the most accurate placement possible. Click here to learn more.

Q / How will you pierce my child’s ears?

A / The instrument we use is not a traditional piercing gun. It’s a specialized medical instrument only available to certified medical professionals. It is loaded with sterile, single use cassettes. It’s quicker, gentler, and significantly more hygienic than standard piercing methods and equipment. We also provide numbing cream (at no extra cost) to help make the piercing process more comfortable for your little one.

Q / What if my child has a nickel allergy?

A / The piercing system we use is safe for those with a nickel allergy. The earrings we provide are either medical grade plastic which is 100% nickel free, or 99.9% if opting for the titanium options. The titanium used for these earrings is medical grade, meaning it’s used for surgical implants. Although 99.9% nickel free, it should not yield any allergic reactions. If you have more questions about this please ask us!

Q / Can you do the piercing with earrings I bring to the appointment?

A / We can only use our pre packaged, sterile earrings for the piercing. This decreases the chance of any infections developing during the healing process. This is also integral to the Medical Ear Piercing process.

Q / How soon after the piercing can I change the earrings?

A / We recommend keeping the earrings in for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Q / How do I remove the earrings?

A / The earrings we use to pierce the ear have a snug back to ensure they stay in place during the healing process. In order to remove them: thoroughly wash your hands, then firmly hold the earring from both ends and gently wiggle until the back comes off. Don’t forget to clean the ear and insert a new pair so the hole doesn’t shrink/close!

Q / Can I reuse the piercing earrings?

A / Once you have removed the earrings they should not be reused. Trying to reinsert them will cause trauma to the surrounding skin (since they are sharp for piercing). It can also create a much bigger hole since these earrings are made with a slightly thicker diameter to help speed up the healing process.

Q / I’m ready for a new pair of earrings, what are some things to consider?

A / It’s important to pick a new pair of earrings that are safe and won’t impede the healing process. The risk of developing a contact allergy peaks in the first year. Purchase a new pair from a reputable company to decrease the chance for any skin irritations. Another option is to purchase a pair from us. Utilizing the same medical grade, nickel free materials, we have long term earrings available for order.

Q / How long does it take for the ear lobes to fully heal?

A / The healing process can take up to an entire year! For this reason it’s important to always keep your earrings in to ensure the holes don’t close up.

Q / Do I need to twist or rotate my earrings?

A / Nope! The best thing to do is keep the earrings clean and dry at all times. Remember to only touch your earrings with clean hands. Rotating the earrings will cause trauma to the delicate skin and slow down the healing process.

Q / Can I go swimming after I get my ears pierced?

A / We recommend you wait a minimum of 4 weeks, especially if swimming in lake or chlorinated water. If you do choose to swim, rinse the earrings with fresh water and use the cleansing wipes, as soon as you get out of the water. It’s best to also avoid hot tubs and saunas for the first 4 weeks.

Q / Are there any age restrictions to medical ear piercing?

A / We provide piercings for children after they have received their 2 and 4 month vaccines. This is to provide an extra barrier of protection for your child.

Q / Do you pierce ears that may have a skin condition?

A / We cannot pierce over any cuts, bruises, bumps or moles. If your child has eczema or psoriasis on their ears, we recommend you check with your doctor prior to scheduling an appointment with us.

Q / What is the aftercare like?

A / We recommend that you thoroughly clean the piercings twice a day (morning and evening) for the first two weeks. At the time of your appointment the nurse will give you detailed verbal and written instructions, along with the cleansing wipes. Do not use rubbing alcohol to clean the piercings!

Q / What does the price include?

A / The price includes a nurse consultation, the piercing earrings, the piercing service, aftercare instructions, aftercare cleansing solution, and numbing cream. The mobile fee is additional and is calculated based on location. Contact us for pricing!

Q / Where is this service provided?

A / Currently we provide at home mobile service.. we come to you!

Q / Can we follow up with you if we have any questions or concerns?
